Benjamin Turner
Managing Director
Benjamin Turner has served companies in the financial and technology sectors for over a decade, living and working in San Francisco, New York, and Tunis. Prior to founding Meridian, Ben worked for New York-based Broadsword Partners, where he served as Director of International Business Development, participating in equity investments, fund-raising efforts, project financing, and evaluations of over $400 million in value. In addition, Ben led long-term efforts on behalf of a U.S.-based client in generating research to enhance the client’s understanding of EMEA equities markets. Ben currently retains his relationship with Broadsword in a consultant capacity. Separately, Ben serves as a strategic advisor to the world's leading geolocation travel safety information company, whose platform produces the most detailed location safety ratings in the world. Ben received a M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin, and a B.A. in Anthropology from The Colorado College. Since 2011, Benjamin has served as Deputy Director on the Board of Found Sound Nation, a New York-based collective of musicians and artists who leverage the power of sound making to create strong, just, and healthy communities. Benjamin is a Spanish and Arabic speaker, loves piano and the uke, and is currently located in Lima, Peru.
Carlos Alférez
Research Director
Carlos Alférez has more than ten years of experience working in financial divisions of global corporations. He served for seven years as Divisional Controller at Bayer, two of them in Colombia and five in Peru. Previously, Carlos served as Management Control Analyst at Molitalia, a Chilean mass consumption company, as well as Treasury Analyst at AFP Horizonte, a company of the BBVA Group. Carlos received both his undergarduate degree in Administration and postgraduate degree in Finance from the University of the Pacific in Lima, Peru.
